I read a book called Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell who theorized that part of this trend is the number of syllables the English language uses for numbers vs. Chinese/Japanese which is much shorter, thus (as he supposed) allowing a stronger memory of more numbers. This translated to the idea that math isn’t “hard” like Americans make it out to be.
